About Us- Aahwahan Foundation (Delhi NCR)

Empowering Communities through Education, Relief, and Women’s Initiatives

The Aahwahan Foundation, a leading NGO in Delhi NCR, is dedicated to holistic community development across the state. In recent years, Aahwahan has launched major initiatives in flood relief, education development, environmental sustainability, and women’s empowerment in Bihar. Faced with devastating monsoon floods that displaced over 2.5 million people, the foundation mobilized one of the largest civilian-led relief efforts. It reached thousands of affected families in districts like Patna, Darbhanga, Katihar and beyond, distributing over 32,000 emergency relief kits of food, water and hygiene supplies. Each kit contained essentials such as food grains, pulses, dry snacks, clean drinking water, menstrual hygiene and baby-care items, reflecting Aahwahan’s commitment to dignity and holistic care

    Our Recent Work

    Latest Campaigns

  • Immediate Crisis Response:
  • After unusually severe monsoon flooding, Aahwahan launched a state-wide flood relief program. Teams distributed 32,000+ relief kits to families stranded by rising waters.

  • Contents of Relief Kits:
  • Each kit includes non-perishable food (grains, pulses, dry snacks), clean drinking water, sanitary products for women, baby care supplies, and basic medicine.

  • Mission:
  • The goal is to provide urgent humanitarian aid and restore a sense of dignity. By delivering essentials and a “message of concern, hope and solidarity” to survivors, Aahwahan helped communities survive the immediate crisis.

  • Leadership:
  • The founder and staff coordinate with local officials and volunteers to ensure equitable distribution. Working from transit hubs in Patna and Begusarai, they carefully planned routes to reach inundated villages quickly.

Thousands of families in Bihar have been devastated by these floods. At Aahwahan Foundation, we are on the ground delivering food, relief kits, and essential support to those in urgent need. Every contribution — whether a small donation or volunteer time — can bring hope, food, and shelter to someone struggling today.

Key Highlights of Our Education Initiatives:

  • School Adoption:
  • Aahwahan has adopted government schools, colleges and Anganwadi centers in Bihar. We renovate dilapidated classrooms and build new facilities for hundreds of children to learn in safety.

  • Infrastructure Upgrades:
  • Our teams install classrooms, science labs, libraries, clean drinking water stations, and sanitary toilets. These improvements create a conducive learning environment and have already reduced student dropout rates in partner schools.

  • Education Outcomes:
  • By addressing basic needs, more children — especially girls — can attend school. High-quality infrastructure encourages families to keep children in class, directly impacting education development in Bihar.

  • Pan-India Reach:
  • While our focus is Bihar, Aahwahan’s education efforts span India. To date, the foundation has adopted 100+ villages across states including Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Odisha. — ensuring broad educational upliftment.

Each completed school project touches the lives of thousands of children. By bringing basic education infrastructure up to standard, Aahwahan is driving education development in Bihar and giving students a fighting chance for a brighter future.

  • Eco-Plantation Drives:
  • We organize tree-planting events on school campuses and unused public land. Local volunteers and students plant saplings that will grow into green cover for future generations.

  • Focus on Native Species:
  • Emphasis is on planting native, fruit-bearing trees to provide long-term ecological and nutritional benefits to communities.

  • Collaborative Efforts:
  • Aahwahan works with students, teachers and partners like Aveva (a technology company) to expand each plantation drive. This creates awareness and builds a culture of environmental stewardship.

  • Local Commitment:
  • Even during flood relief operations, our teams in Bihar look for opportunities to restore nature. By planting trees on flood-affected land, we help rebuild both the ecosystem and community resilience.

  • Community Funding:
  • These green campaigns are driven by public donations. For example, sponsors can donate Rs.99 for each sapling, covering planting and maintenance costs. This model ensures sustainability and community ownership. Aahwahan has already planted over 1.8 million trees nationwide and is keen to grow this “green revolution” in Bihar.

Our tree plantation projects not only improve the environment but also foster community involvement and awareness. They complement our relief and education work by addressing climate-related challenges in the region.

  • Skill Training:
  • We offer free training in tailoring, dressmaking and crafting household items. More than 1,000 women in Patna have benefited, learning to create garments and products they can sell for income.

  • Entrepreneurial Support:
  • After training, women receive assistance to market their products. This gives them a reliable livelihood and boosts local economies.

  • Digital Sakhi:
  • Our Digital Sakhi program teaches women essential digital and financial literacy skills, enabling them to manage enterprises and access online resources.

  • Holistic Programs:
  • Beyond skills, Aahwahan runs the “Food for Hunger” campaign, providing over 10,000 meals daily to needy communities (including in Bihar). This addresses malnutrition and allows women to focus on work and family.

  • Impact:
  • As a result of these initiatives, over 1,700 young women and girls have been trained under our programs, becoming self-reliant and financially independent. Each empowered woman creates a ripple effect, improving her family’s well-being and inspiring others.

By focusing on women empowerment in Bihar, Aahwahan helps break cycles of poverty. Training women in marketable skills not only uplifts them economically but also transforms community attitudes towards gender roles. Our five core program areas — education, health, women’s empowerment, environment and community development — work together to benefit lakhs of people across rural and urban Bihar.
